Some of the greatest stories are those that span generations. Children’s books, specifically, hold special places in our hearts—mainly because of the frequency in which we read them. How many times have you read Goodnight Moon or another book that you could recite by memory for the rest of your life? MPLS (imPulse) presents Sing Me a Story, a collection of new and well loved children’s literature set to music, along with live projections. A perfect musical event for children and adults of all ages.

Herald Music SeriesThe Herald Music Series is a community service of St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Minnesota. The series is a reflection and an extension of St. Philip the Deacon’s long commitment to outstanding music—both in its worship life and through concerts outside of worship, which take advantage of St. Philip the Deacon's architecturally and acoustically beautiful sanctuary.

Sing Me a StoryFeatured on the program are musical submissions from the Sing Me a Story Foundation, which “gives children in need the opportunity to write and illustrate stories about anything they want.” Childrens’ stories are then presented to songwriters and composers who turn their stories into songs.
Sing Me a Story's mission is to bring the voices of children in need to the world through music. The stories and songs that come from our program remind us that we have far more in common than we often think, they raise awareness and financial aid for nonprofits around the world and, most of all, they provide families with an unforgettable experience that brings joy and healing. If we can give the children we serve the opportunity to give the one thing they all have, regardless of their circumstance, which is their imagination, and bring those imaginations to the world through music, in an effort to hopefully remind us all that we have far more in common than we often attribute to ourselves, we will have accomplished our goal. |
