SING ME A STORY
Texts and Translations
Butterfly in the Sky (Theme from Reading Rainbow)
Steve Horlick, Dennis Neil Kleinman, and Janet Weir arr. Gates Thomas
Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high,
take a look, it's in a book, a Reading Rainbow!
I can go anywhere.
Friends to know and ways to grow, a Reading Rainbow!
I can be anything.
Take a look, it's in a book, a Reading Rainbow!
I have become a god because I read a book.
My power grows like no one knows, I'm mad with power!*
I can go anywhere, I can be anyone, I can do anything.
Learn the key, and then you'll see, a Reading Rainbow!

One Boy Told Me
Music lives inside my legs,
It's coming out when I talk.
There's a stopper in my arm
that's not going to let me grow any bigger.
I'll be like this always, small.
I'll invite a bee to live in your shoe.
What if you found your shoe
full of honey?
My tongue is the car wash
for the spoon.
Just think—no one has ever seen
inside this peanut before!
When I grow up my old names
will live in the house
where we live now.
I'll come and visit them.
What does minus mean?
I never want to minus you.
I do and don't love you--
isn't that happiness?

Goodnight Moon
by Margaret Wise Brown (1910-1952)
In the great green room
There was a telephone
And a red baloon
And a picture of --
The cow jumping over the moon
And there were three little bears sitting on chairs
And two little kittens
And a pair of mittens
And a little toyhouse
And a young mouse
And a comb and a brush and a bowl full of mush
And a quiet old lady who was whispering "hush"
Goodnight room
Goodnight moon
Goodnight cow jumping over the moon
Goodnight light
And the red balloon
Goodnight bears
Goodnight chairs
Goodnight kittens
And goodnight mittens
Goodnight clocks
And goodnight socks
Goodnight little house
And goodnight mouse
Goodnight comb
And goodnight brush
Goodnight nobody
Goodnigth mush
And goodnight to the old lady whispering "hush"
Goodnight stars
Goodnight air
Goodnight noises everywhere

My cat has a golden cradle,
But my baby has a better one.
My cat has a pillow that isn't good enough,
But my baby has a softer one.
The cat has a warm blanket,
But my baby has a warmer one.

But I must scold you,
If you do not sleep.

One day my dogs Maverick and Fin ran away from home.
They ran away so far they ended up i n a big big city with tall skyscrapers.
So hungry from all the running they decided t o steal a bowl o f macaroni.
The restaurant worker scared them, so i n a rush Maverick and Fin ran into some brush.
They didn't get caught so they had a great thought.... "Let's see how far we can get into the city before we get caught."
As they adventured away they found themselves in a parade.
Tractors, clowns, and big heavy sounds they decided to get away.
The scent of the food on the hotel room smelled so strong it made the dogs go woof.
Climbing up the stairs the scent got stronger.
They wanted more food to fill their bellies and hunger.
When they got to the top they heard someone yelling. "Get out o f here dogs, you're stinky and smelly!"
As they dashed away, falling down some steps they almost didn't get away.
Looking back they saw security. "Whew Fin, that was a close one." Maverick said laughing.
Alec, Trinn, Tinley, Laney, and Rhett worried about their pets.
Mom and Dad getting everyone set. Loading the jeep and big silver truck.
Where could those dogs be, as everyone let out a big shrug.
Yelling "Maverick," and, "Fin," out the car windows!
Soon enough we found them at an arcade.
"What are you doing? You have no shame."
Maverick and Fin were so tired and soon realized they missed their family and their home.
Dad said, "Maverick get i n the truck, Fin you're riding i n the Jeep with me."
Dessie the Yorkie barking, "Buckle up, you naughty dogs!"
Later that day, Fin and Maverick learned their lesson t o never run away.

House at Pooh Corner
Kenny Loggins
Christopher Robin and I walked along,
Under branches lit up by the moon.
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore,
As our days disappeared far too soon.
But I've I wandered much further today than I should,
And I can't seem to find my way back to the wood.
So help me if you can, I've got to get
Back to the house At Pooh Corner by one.
You'd be surprised, there's so much to be done,
Count all the bees in the hive,
Chase all the clouds from the sky,
Back to the days of Christopher Robin,
And Pooh.
Winnie the Pooh doesn't know what to do,
Got a honey jar stuck on his nose.
He came to me asking help and advice,
And from here no one knows where he goes.
So I sent him to ask of the Owl, if he's there,
How to loosen a jar from the nose of a bear.
Help me if you can, I've got to get
Back to the house At Pooh Corner by one.
You'd be surprised, there's so much to be done,
Count all the bees in the hive,
Chase all the clouds from the sky,
Back to the days of Christopher Robin,
