There is a phrase we have largely forgotten: "I'm sorry."

Music has an undeniable role in uniting people around a shared political message. MPLS (imPulse) celebrates and recognizes the power and significance of music and politics as we present "We Hold These Truths." Our featured repertoire is Paul Winchester’s An American Mass, a new choral work that provides a shared perspective of the contemporary American political environment.

An American Mass is not about policy or platform. It does not ideate a world where everyone gets along and agrees with one another. It is about our shared humanity and our relationship with one another and the United States. Our mission with this project is to usher in more opportunities for people to build connections and learn from one another.

This performance is presented in partnership with Braver Angels, a cross-partisan national organization promoting courageous citizenship by renewing civic culture and building trust across political differences.
Braver Angels will lead a talk-back conversation following the performance, along with an invitation to attend a scheduled Braver Citizens workshop.
