Celebrate the end of Tax Day and explore the universe with MPLS (imPulse)! Our spring performance is presented in partnership with the Como Planetarium and features choral music on the theme of planets, solar systems, and galaxies. In addition to other selections, MPLS (imPulse) will perform Spheres of Influence, a new work composed by Twin Cities-based composer Paul John Rudoi. Audiences will experience a projected planetarium performance while MPLS (imPulse) performs, guided by a planetarium staff member. This performance is appropriate for audiences of all ages. Refreshments will be served following the performance.
Partnering Organization: Como Planetarium
The Como Planetarium is a 60-seat planetarium located inside Como Elementary in Saint Paul. Opened in 1975, the space receives over 20,000 annual visitors, including thousands of children from the Saint Paul Public School Disrict and surrounding districts. The planetarium also hosts public performances on weekday events designed to entertain, educate, and engage audiences of all ages. The space was renovated seven years ago to accommodate new technology in the space and state-of-the-art software also used by larger planetariums across the country. The planetarium has five part-time staff members with varied expertise in astronomy, physics, and theater.
